Robbie Burns Dinner 2005

10 June 2005

The annual Burns dinner provided an excellent finish to second term lectures. As usual it included haggis, kilts and bagpipes. There were swords (a replica of William Wallace’s sword from the early 1300s carried by the student president; a sword dance by Sarah Fitzgerald; and a rendition, complete with sword, of ‘Robert Bruce’s March to Bannockburn’ by Charlie Anderson), poems (Rachel Soya reading another poem by Robbie Burns, ‘Tam O’Shanter’), the choir sang, bagpipes played, and the Black Velvet Band provided wonderful dance music which most of the House took advantage of!
