College House provides an outstanding residential conference venue for groups seeking comfort and reasonable price alongside peace and atmosphere. The College is available for conferences, seminars, workshops and sports groups during the university vacations, accommodating up to 144 guests in single rooms. Conference accommodation is provided in 10 separate houses, each containing 13 to 15 rooms. Each floor has 3 to 5 rooms sharing a bathroom and kitchen area.
College House is known for its friendly, helpful staff; the quiet beauty of its park-like surroundings; restaurant-quality meals planned and prepared on site; comfortable newly-renovated bedrooms; proximity to the University of Canterbury, sports fields, shops and public transport.
The College’s Study Centre can seat up to 200 people and has often been used for concerts, receptions and other functions. The College has a variety of rooms suitable for smaller groups. There is a well-appointed Common Room, television lounges and other facilities. The College can provide meals and catering for any size group, ranging from morning and afternoon teas to formal dinners by candlelight.
Recent conferences hosted by College House include: New Zealand Royal Scottish Country Dancing Society, St John’s International Youth Festival, International Wildlife Management Congress, Greypower, New Zealand Historical Association, Under 21 New Zealand Women’s Cricket, Oceania Athletics, New Zealand Special Olympics, National Institute of Registered Music Teachers, Society of Friends, Royal School of Church Music, World Men’s Softball Championships.
