College House Celebratory Service 2010

College House is thrilled and delighted to announce a special service next year at Westminster Abbey, London.  This will celebrate the 160th anniversary of the College and the admission of the 5000th student. This has been made possible by kind permission of the Dean, following a request from London alumnus Paul Johnstone (CH 1378).
The Choral Evensong will take place on Tuesday 7th September at 17:00.  A personal tour of the Abbey building will follow afterward.
The Abbey is close by the site in Whitehall where the Canterbury Association first met to plan settlement in Canterbury and Christchurch.  Its choir is world famous for contribution to Anglican worship, to leadership of state occasions, and for the quality of its recordings.  This is particularly so under the direction of the present Organist & Master of the Choristers, Mr. James O’Donnell, formerly Director of Music at Westminster Cathedral.  His time at both Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Abbey has been a glittering procession of outstanding church, state and royal events, in parallel with premium CD awards for choir recordings of an extraordinary range and calibre.
We warmly invite all alumni and friends of the College who are near to London at this time to attend.  It is very important that you advise us by 1st June 2010 if you know now that you will be present.  Hospitality and the tour afterwards depend on us advising the Abbey in good time on estimated numbers attending.
